Reksoft integrates DMS and ERP solution for German publishing giant

Reksoft, an expert provider of software outsourcing services, with offices in Russia, Germany and Sweden, has announced its launch into productive operation of an integration project for German publishing giant Springer Science+Business Media.

Springer Science+Business Media is one of the world's largest STM publishing houses. The company publishes 1,700 journals and 5,000 new book titles every year, databases, online services, conferences and seminars included. Around 5,000 employees work for the company in more than 20 countries around the world.

An extensive amount of business data requires Springer IT applications to be highly integrated to provide an excellent business performance and flexibility and IT system transparency for end-users. For example, before Springer's editorial board reach a final decision on whether or not to edit a book, production, marketing and financial managers gather various data concerning its description and the author's details, as well as data on the cost of the book's production and its estimated profitability. With this information sited on different systems, managers were spending a considerable amount of time locating it. Accordingly, Springer's management decided to initiate an integration of SAP ERP and DMS systems to simplify data search, accelerate processes and reduce the possibility of mistakes at the data input stage.

Reksoft integrated these two platforms using a complex model based on the industry-leading solution SAP NetWeaver Process Integration. This approach offered the opportunity to unite two systems harmoniously without disrupting the business logic followed within the enterprise. Reksoft also adjusted a fuzzy logic module to facilitate richer search capabilities across the integrated landscape.

Reksoft's integration solution allowed Springer to streamline business performance and substantially improve ease of use for IT system end users at every one of its 60 publishing houses worldwide. With previously dispersed data gathered on two platforms, vital information can now be located quickly and intuitively.
