In this project, Reksoft is responsible for the design and implementation of the project management system for the client's Corporate Communications department.
Customer Situation:
After a series of consequent acquisitions, UPM Corporate Communications management decides to unify the IT infrastructure, improve collaboration and the efficiency of project management, by developing and deploying a unified management system.
Project Description:
Internal research, conducted by a designated UPM team, identified the core business requirements for the target system, as well as several constraints to be taken into account - the target environment should be based on IBM Domino/ Lotus with duplicated Web and Notes functionality.
It was also requested to match the new system design with UPM IT continuity requirements and build the new system with the capability of simplified migration onto the IBM WebSphere environment.
The system was expected to initially serve 20 users, and in consequent releases to up the number of users to 50 (multiple geographical locations), and later to 100.
Reksoft joined the UPM efforts right after the initial business requirements were established. Reksoft suggested using the agile project management approach (SCRUM) to minimize the implementation risks.
The entire project, from the composition of business cases and requirements, to final acceptance by the user, has been run in close communication with end users of the target system.
Project Results:
The developed Project Management System helps to streamline the project management processes in the client's organization and improve the corporate know-how by powerful information exchange and deliverables management.
As a result, the Corporate Communications department of UPM Kymmene has substantially raised the efficiency of operations.
