The challenge of this project was to develop a payment gateway that would allow for authorization and processing of Internet payments online.
A system for real-time authorization and processing of credit card payments, and personal Internet Service Provider accounts, from any computer connected to the Internet was developed - ASSIST. Reksoft put its Assist e-payment system into operation in April 1998 within the framework of OZON online bookstore project. Full commercial launching of the system took place in April 1999. The strategic development of ASSIST.ru was targeted at increasing the number of member banks and at providing a wider scope of services to Internet stores. ASSIST, jointly with Alfa Bank Moscow, were first in Russia to implement the SET standard for credit card payments processing over the Internet.
In April 2002 ASSIST spun off from Reksoft and became a separate legal entity. Customer service was enhanced and a fraud-screening group was set up. Special new methods of fraud screening were developed and tested, and are currently available to Internet stores.
Today, Assist keeps a leading position on the Russian market, processing over 80 per cent of all Russian Internet credit card transactions. In addition to VISA and MasterCard, ASSIST provides the option of accepting all five of Russia's leading e-wallets - WebMoney, Yandex.Dengi, Rapida, e-port, Kredit Pilot within the same user interface.
Currently, the system has over 400 stores connected to ASSIST and the number of connections is constantly growing. ASSIST brings numerous benefits and provides solid services to online merchants, online buyers and Internet providers.
