Reksoft, being an offshore software development company with the international exposure, is always proud to present the success of their customers. This November, Reksoft client, First Data International , the leading e-commerce provider, was invited to speak at BITKOM  Outsourcing Summit in Frankfurt and revealed the best practices in software outsourcing to Russia.

Scalability in resources, cost savings and the necessity for First Data to stay focused on their core business - these were the major factors that made the company consider outsourcing. Since short travel time and close time zones were also important, First Data only searched for the outsourcing provider in the nearshore European zone.

Reksoft is honored to have been chosen for the professionalism, flexibility, quality focus and a structured methodology, strong project management skills, competitive pricing, attitude and commitment, and German language capabilities.

SoftBrands Medallion is among the successful software products, entirely developed in Russia. Once upon a time, Medallion - a property management software package - was a Reksoft proprietary product, marketed under the WinnLodge brand, in Switzerland.

Today, Medallion is one of the flagship products of SoftBrands, an American hospitality and manufacturing software company, and this Fall, Medallion has experienced its 1000th installation!

Reksoft is not only responsible for the full-cycle product co-development, including Product Management, Project Management and Development, but continues to provide maintenance, 2nd and 3rd line support to SoftBrands and its customers.

Medallion Team at Reksoft

We are very proud of this Russo-American collaboration on software product development and the achievements of Medallion itself. We are very grateful to SoftBrands, for their way of letting us know, that they care too. And the coffee mugs for the entire Medallion team at Reksoft, commemorating the 1000th installation of Medallion, and the accompanying warm ‘Thank you' note from Steve VanTassel, a Sr. Vice President at SoftBrands - it all makes us feel good:

"We want to thank you and your team for all their hard work, support and dedication in making Medallion a truly global application... I am looking forward to 2007 and a strong start toward the second 1,000 Medallion properties!"

On October 30th, Reksoft was visited by the representative of Takasaki City University of Economics in Japan. The School of Economics of the University has been currently carrying out a research on the Russian ICT market and thus initiated a week visit to the offices of the leading IT outsourcing providers in St. Petersburg and Moscow.

With $1 billion in turnover in 2005, Russian IT outsourcing market has been growing with 30 % growth rate and is considered by the world's know analyst houses to be the most promising Challenger for the strong market position.

Svetlana Vronskaya (editor of Russian IT Quarterly) shared her insights into the Russian IT industry with the guest while exposing the relevant Reksoft experience. The researcher was offered the fresh information on the IT market in Russia available in Russian IT Quarterly newsletter, Reksoft ICT Blog and in-house analytical data.

The recent visit confirms the fact Russia has been getting attention from the Far East countries as a location for software engineering. According to the information gathered during this visit a number of Japanese enterprises consider going offshore to Russia for their IT needs.

On a sunny and brisk Friday morning, (September 15th), a delegation of four Fairfax County Economic Development Authority officials crossed the threshold of the new Reksoft office.

The Fairfax County Economic Development Authority (FCEDA) promotes Fairfax County, Virginia, as a world-class center of commerce and trade and the technology hub of the east coast. The FCEDA provides a wide array of information and free services designed to help American and international businesses locate or expand commercial operations in Fairfax County. A thriving business community builds the commercial tax base and helps Fairfax County fund award-winning public services that support our quality of life.

Reksoft, traditionally focused on working with European enterprises is looking to expand operations in the USA. Upon a quick presentation of our company, Reksoft and FCEDA representatives turned to discussing the current state of Russian-American mutual perceptions, not the political aspects, but the general feeling in the streets and in the business circles. Our guests from the Fairfax County confirmed that Russia is still seen as a depositary to ‘rocket scientists’, but there is no real understanding of how to make commercial sense of that knowledge. Many American entrepreneurs don’t have a clue on how to approach the Russian market, and Russian companies are still very timid in their marketing activities abroad.

A typical Russian company, wishing to do business in the US is faced with the ancient “the chicken or the egg” dilemma: opening up an office in America is a costly endeavor, and the investment is most likely to pay back only for companies already working with US clients, where as attracting US clients without local representation is next to impossible.

To sum up, Reksoft is definitely looking to go see what the Wild West is all about, and the Fairfax County Development Authority will gladly lend us a hand.

The Swisscom Winning Messaging Solution

This year - the year of World Soccer Championship - keeping pace with the score was deemed more important than ever, and at the same time - proved to be a real challenge to mobile operators. This is when we (Reksoft) got the chance to get our prize (from Swisscom Mobile), a new version of who’s Mobile (VAS) Portal we release each year. This time, we had to make the goal-carrying Multimedia (MMS) and Short (SMS) Messages deliver the good news to subscribers within a reasonable time, following the actual goal.

Our beloved Swiss Customer was so happy, that an ordinary ‘Thank You’ letter did not do the trick, and our Swisscom group was awarded a beautiful Cup, with a special engraving on it: “Winners of Wildspitz Speed Contest 2006”. We love our Customers! :)
